Civil Rights: Excessive Force and Unlawful Arrest Under 42 U.S.C. § 1983

In August 2016, CZW obtained a defense verdict for a Deputy Sheriff in a federal excessive force and unlawful arrest case. In Guthrie v. Gragg, the Plaintiff alleged that a Deputy Sheriff used excessive force against him in the course of an allegedly unlawful arrest. The Deputy Sheriff denied that he used excessive force and that the arrest was unlawful. A federal jury rejected Plaintiff’s claim and ruled in favor of the Deputy Sheriff in the Eastern District of Oklahoma.
